DYNAMIC NESTING (JIT)

PrintFactory’s Cloud App makes it easy to track your nested output, even with multiple orders

PrintFactory’s JIT Nesting enables smart, last-second changes to jobs without slowing production, reducing costs, and speeding up workflow. It’s ideal for companies with multiple sites and printers, providing intelligent software for balancing production. Jobs are only released at the last second, allowing for maximum control and the ability to schedule jobs automatically, try different layouts, and make manual changes.

JIT NESTING Key Features :

(PrintFactory’s Cloud App includes JIT Nesting with a PrintFactory Connect Subscription )

  • Speed up production of complex job queues.
  • Get last-second ‘smart’ nesting to avoid wasted media
  • Last-minute manual changes mean total control
  • Move jobs, change jobs, choose different substrates
  • Industry 4.0 compliant
  • Schedule last minute nesting based on shipping or kitting time.
  • Constantly improve nesting layout and efficiency until the moment printing starts

One of the key features of PrintFactory Connect is that you can schedule work based on print deadlines. But that can mean that your work might just get printed with more, not less non-printed space (wastage) on the sheet if the sheet is only filled using jobs that have to be printed by a certain time.

PrintFactory Connect’s option to fill sheets with non-expired jobs will minimise wastage as much as possible if applied to a nest setting. This enables dual production criteria, time sensitive deadlines are honored first, and then non sensitive jobs are added to the sheet. Making sure that the substrate wastage is kept to a minimum.

By customizing the parameters in your personal Job Part Label settings, you can add user data to the input job in the XML, including deadline or destination information, which will be displayed on the label. Additionally, you can easily locate your nest at a later date by scanning the code on the job part label or using the email Print or Preview feature, which takes you directly to your nest information.

Overall, the tool is user-friendly and efficient.

In order to ensure the maximum throughput of work the nester queue will interrogate each connected RIP to ascertain the number of jobs and metres to be printed on each device and will choose the RIP/printer with the least amount of work outstanding. Maximising the overall equipment effectiveness for all connected devices.

Production scheduling is difficult at best, not only do we have to assume 100% uptime of all devices, but also that everything will be produced with no interruptions. Cutting and packing artwork is a manual process and prone to delay. In load balanced production, we often find that cutting not printing becomes the backlog.

In order to overcome this, we added the ability to simultaneously produce multiple cut files automatically. Using this facility, jobs can be printed and cut as quickly as possible using the first available device at every stage of production.

This allows total flexibility in the finishing process, if there is a backlog and the originally specified cutter is not available, simply take the printed job to another cutter, scan the QR/barcode into the cutting software and the necessary cut file for that device will be loaded. Total flexibility ensures that the chances of missing deadline in reduced to near nil.

A QUICK EXPLANATION OF BUCKETS AND NESTS…..

PrintFactory’s automated workflows minimize inactivity by uploading job instructions in the form of XML tickets to the PrintFactory Cloud Nester, a virtual job nesting system. The Cloud Nester monitors work sent to the BUCKETS, determining what substrate, color profile, printer to use, and print deadline specified in the XML. The system virtually re-nests all jobs to optimize the queue and push high-priority jobs to the top. This enables late scheduling, maximum device productivity, and last-minute substrate or printer changes without uploading high-resolution data to the cloud.

PrintFactory’s WorkFlow is designed for advanced XML workflows, watching for XML job tickets and connected to the PrintFactory Cloud for user interface access and workflow setup. WorkFlow automatically amends the content with artwork details to make automated workflows more accessible to a wider audience. The PrintFactory web interface allows for specification of the correct RIP, printer, media profile, cutter, and nesting queue, which are all connected via WorkFlow and XML tickets.

TO MAKE THINGS AS EASY AS POSSIBLE, WE HAVE DEVELOPED AN ONLINE XML GENERATOR THAT TELLS YOUR SYSTEM INTEGRATOR WHAT INFORMATION IS NEEDED IN THE JOB INSTRUCTION SO YOU CAN EASILY BUILD XML TICKETS.
